THAT'S A WRAP ON 2024

THAT'S A WRAP ON 2024

One last attempt at keeping up with my email blast this year. As far as resolutions go, I find them a painfully futile practice and rather trite; however, I will say, next year I would like to do this monthly — and really try to keep up with it. I quite like having a way to keep you all updated on the goings on that exists outside of Instagram and social media. In any event - I was extremely lucky to have worked with musician Django James last year in shooting three different music videos for his album. They came out this year! So if you may have missed them, take a look at all three linked below. It felt very good to be able to work this way - I’ve always loved music videos and had such a great time being able to bring these ideas to life in motion. The video for ‘The City’ especially, felt like a coming together of everything I’ve been working towards in celebrating sexuality and kink - I got to lean on this community in casting upwards of 10 extras. It was very exciting to watch all come together and felt like really hitting my stride.

The only other news I really want to share with you before year end is that I have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition. I can’t share the final piece with you yet, but I’m very excited about it. I put a lot of time and energy into fully realizing this as a piece - from paper and print quality to how it was framed, it was all very intentional and I’m so pleased and grateful it was sufficiently impressive to garner a spot on the shortlist! It’s been a few years of applying to these sorts of contests, grants, residencies, etc. and to get recognized in this way is really something for me. The full exhibition opens October 18, 2025 at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. It’s a ways away, but extremely exciting nonetheless!

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my little emails and for being subscribed to my list to begin with! I’ve been working diligently on updating my website, so feel free to peruse that as well: stevenharwick.com

I hope you all have a wonderful start to the new year and wish you all nothing but the best. I’ll be back in touch at the end of January!

Lots of love in leather & life,
Steven Harwick
